Jim and Doriana Fitch

Who am I?

  • Native of Louisiana and a military veteran with a long history of public service
  • Lived in St. Louis for 22 years before moving to Haines City, FL in 2011
  • Fell in love with Winter Park, FL and moved with my wife, Doriana (my Angel), in 2016
  • We have 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren
  • Members of All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park

Education and Background

  • Graduated from LSU with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Enlisted in Navy Officer Candidate School and finished 2nd in my class of 244
  • Commissioned an Officer in Navy Civil Engineering Corps
  • Served 2 tours in the Philippines
  • Graduated from Stanford School of Business with an MBA - finance and real estate emphasis
  • Spent 40 years in industry progressing from Salesman to President and then Board Member

My area of most responsibility was as North American Field Operations Manager, overseeing 97 employees and millions in sales. Areas of expertise are paper manufacturing, process control paper and sawmills, printed circuit board testing, VLSI chip testing, and real estate. I'm passionate about volunteering and contributing to society through my public service.

Haines City is about 22,000 population with a $50 million budget and a Commission - City Manager Government. My contributions:

  • Chaired Finance Advisory Board of 5 members - 125 hours on a budget. All recommendations accepted by the Commission

  • Graduated from Public Leadership Institute at Florida Southern College in 2015

Looking for Volunteer opportunities in Winter Park January of 2016:

Volunteered for the Board of Adjustment, Planning and Zoning Board, Police and Fire Pension Board. I heard nothing - no Thank You - Nothing. That's when I decided to run for Mayor of Winter Park to make some changes.
